Corona virus ailment of 2019 (covid-19) has emerged as a worldwide fitness threat. Unfortunately, there are very limited authorized drugs to be had with mounted efficacy towards the sars-cov-2 virus and its inflammatory action. Vaccine improvement is actively being researched, however it is able to take over a year to grow had to standard public. Certain medicinal drugs, for example, dexamethasone, antimalarial (chloroquine/ hydroxychloroquine), antiviral (remdesivir), and interleukin-6 receptor blocking off monoclonal antibodies (tocilizumab), are utilized in diverse mixtures as off-label medicinal drugs for treatment of covid-19. Essential oils (EOs) have lengthy been recognized to have anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, bronchodilator, and antiviral activity and are being proposed to have action towards sarc-cov-2 virus. Owing to their lipophilic nature, Eos is recommended to penetrate viral membranes effortless lymain to membrane disruption. Moreover, Eos comprise more than one lively phytochemicals that can act synergistically on more than one ranges of viral replication and additionally induce high-quality results on host breathing gadget consisting of bronchodilator and mucus lyses. At present, most effective computer-aided docking and little in vitro research are to be had which display anti-sarc-cov-2sports of Eos.

The main cause of Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) is inadequate intake of food, both in quantity and quality. According to Ayurveda, the drug or diet that reverses or break the Samprapti is ideal for the treatment of that particular disease. The drug can be used singly or in combination to achieve the prescribed objective. As underweight children are very common in a developing country like India, hence a nutrient rich single drug can be a useful tool for their treatment. Shigru or sahijan has the potential of providing all essential nutrients needed for the underweight child. Viewing this aspect it is the need of the hour to have in depth review of sahijan as wonder nutritious herb as described in ayurvedic texts and in modern science. The lucid survey of literature shows that Sahijan has a broad spectrum of pharmacological and therapeutic activities. It has diverse biological potentials and has a great scope for further new area of investigations.

The present study was conducted to screen α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of Sulfated heteropolysaccharides extracted from Hypnea valentiae and associated protective role on oxidative stress observed with diabetic complications. The IC50 of sulfated polysaccharide and standard Acarbose is found to be 191.7 µg/ml and 31.99 µg/ml against α-amylase. The IC50 of sulfated polysaccharide and standard Acarbose is found to be 151.0 µg/ml and 21.85 µg/ml against α-glucosidase respectively. The sulfated polysaccharide increased Glutathione peroxidase activity, an antioxidant enzyme in a dose dependent manner in L6 cells. The Extract showed decrease in H2O2 induced cytosolic ROS generation in L6 Cells measured using fluorescence dye 2’, 7’–dichlorofluorescein. Thus the sulfated polysaccharide exhibited dual role of delaying absorption of glucose via inhibition of α-amylase and α-glucosidase and attenuate oxidative stress by scavenging ROS & regulating glutathione antioxidant defense system. Hence we conclude that polysaccharide fraction precipitated from the extract ameliorates hyperglycemia and associated oxidative stress.

Since ancient times a great emphasis given to identification of best quality raw drug before being used in a formulation. Ayurveda Acharyas have mentioned the characteristics of best raw drug. Grahyalakshana is suggesting the accepted quality of a drug and it is helpful in the selection of good quality raw drugs. As per many Rasashastra classics, the drugs are classified into various groups like Maharasa, uprasa, sadharan rasa etc. Sadharan rasa is a set of drugs which are used for rasasiddhi. Grahyalakshanas are very important in identifying the originality of the drug in raw form that eases human understanding. In present days, along with classical grahyagrahyatva; identification of minerals on the basis of geological parameters is also coupled. It will help in flawless selection of the ethical raw material.

Diabetes mellitus is becoming a common metabolic disorder that has serious threat to public health in the world. There are chemicals and biochemical agent that helps in controlling diabetes but there is no permanent remedy available to be recovering completely from this disorder. Traditional Medicines derived from medicinal plants used by about 60% of the world’s population. Due to lesser side effect and low cost, the herbal formulations are becoming popular now a day particularly in curing the diseases. The traditional medicinal practitioners of various countries claim to cure diabetes or alleviate the major symptoms and progression of this disease through administration of medicinal plants. One of the etiologic factors implicated in the development of diabetes and its complications is the damage induced by free radicals and hence an anti-diabetic compound with antioxidant properties would be more beneficial. Tribal peoples, Borma, Sautal and Garo of five villages namely Rodgram, Kuchapara, Chalkpara, Uchadanga and Chandpukur under Shapahar Upozilla in Naogaon district were an indigenous community of northern region of Bangladesh, who still follow their traditional medicinal practices. Their traditional medicinal formulations contain a number of plants and plant parts, which they claim to be active anti-diabetic agents. In this research works, our interest was to find out the medicinal plants that the Tribal Practitioners use for treatment of diabetes. Literature review shows that almost all the plants used by the Bangladeshi tribal practitioners have reported antioxidantand anti-diabeticproperties. In this practical demonstration among tribal peoples with five medicinal plant extracts viz: (Allium sativum; Azadrirachta indica; Momordica charantia: Ocimum sanctum and Trigonella foenum graecum) shows good results to improve the diabetes patients that have enormous potential for possible development of new and effective anti-diabetic’s modern drugs.
